Mariah Johnson Claims First Track All-American Award

Junior Mariah Johnson earned the Seahawks first All-American award in Track and Field at the final day of competition at the 2014 NAIA Outdoor Track and Field National Championships.

In the 100 meter hurdles, Johnson finished fifth overall in the finals, setting a new school record with a time of 14.03 seconds. Johnson qualified for three events at Nationals, choosing to add an appearance in the triple jump with the 100 meter dash. Mariah took 11th in the triple jump with a mark of 11.52 meters.

“It’s great to see someone who works as hard as she does be successful,” said Northwood Head Coach Kent Baker.  Although she accomplished many goals today, and this season, I know she won’t be totally satisfied until she returns next year and challenges for the 100 meter hurdle title.”
