Jim Biewer (Class of 2006)

“This past 2013-14 hockey season I was finally able to say that I have succeeded in capturing my dream job by not only working for the Detroit Red Wings but being able to be a part of the planning behind the largest outdoor hockey event in history with the Hockeytown Winter Festival at Comerica Park and then into the Winter Classic at the Big House.  That two week long celebration of hockey was by far the hardest I’ve ever worked in my life, but easily the thing that I am most proud of in my career so far.  It started for me my freshman year at Northwood with the ESPM program when I accepted my first practicum with the Saginaw Spirit and I never gave up the search to find my passion.  Currently I plan, promote and coordinate all events for the Wings as well as manage their School Assembly Program talking to over 50,000 students per year.  I encourage anyone I talk with to find a career that they love doing and have a never-ending passion for, because if they can find that then they’ll never have to work another day in their lives.”
