Northwood University (Fla.) head coach, Rollie Massimino, achieved a coaching milestone, capturing his 700th career win, as the Seahawks defeated visiting Valor Christian, 106-73, in their opening game of the 2012 Chuck Daly Memorial Classic, hosted at Northwood University. With the victory, Massimino becomes the 35th coach ever to amass 700 wins in the NCAA and NAIA ranks. He is one of only three active coaches to win an NCAA championship and have reached the 700-win plateau. In his 37 year career, Massimino has a record of 700-429, with 184 of his wins coming at Northwood University. Prior to taking the helm at Northwood seven years ago, Massimino has coached at Stony Brook, Villanova, UNLV, and Cleveland State, including the 1985 NCAA National Championship title while at Villanova.
